Risk & Assurance Advisor

Randstad is searching for a skilled and accomplished Risk & Assurance Advisor who possesses a keen eye for detail and excels in their field. About your new role

As a specialist within the People and Culture Department, the Risk and Assurance Advisor plays a pivotal role in safeguarding Council operations by driving the enterprise risk framework and internal audit functions. You will act as a primary consultant for staff across all levels, providing expert guidance on ISO 31000:2009 standards and helping teams proactively identify and mitigate service risks. Beyond advisory, you will take ownership of the Internal Audit Program, managing relationships with external contractors to develop audit scopes and ensuring all resulting recommendations are tracked to completion. This role is also essential to the governance of the organization, as you will oversee the administration of the Audit and Risk Committee, managing everything from high-level report writing to the coordination of the annual work plan.

What you will need to exceed

• You should hold a relevant qualification in risk management, audit, assurance, or business administration.
• You will need a sound understanding of the social, political, and legal frameworks within which Local Government operates.
• Demonstrated experience in managing enterprise and organisational risk, as well as an understanding of internal audit and committee environments, is essential.
• Expertise in guiding staff on the principles of ISO 31000:2009 and providing specialist advice on risk implications for new programmes.
• Strong time-management skills to work with minimal supervision while managing several work elements simultaneously.
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with high levels of integrity

Must have

• The ideal candidate must have advanced expertise in using MS Projects and possess exceptional scheduling skills
